While I knew how important research was already, my project and apprenticeship experience instilled that knowledge to a deeper degree. It also helps to reach out to others outside of your field. The Microsoft Leap Apprenticeship Programs mission is to recruit, develop, and upscale unconventional talent for employability into the technology industry. Your co-workers are there when you need a new set of eyes on a design or research plan. But it is so important to ask as many questions as you can when joining a new team and field. This is easier said than done as a new designer. I have become a much stronger and adaptive designer because of it.
